We are located at Bentall Athletic Club, 1055 Dunsmuir Street, downtown Vancouver.  Please call ahead to book an appointment. 


There is a parkade at the rear of the Bentall building, which is entered by making an immediate right off a small street called Eveleigh, which is accessed from Thurlow Street.  Park on Level 8 and the exit door will lead outside to a mezzanine above the gym entrance.

Public Transport

The Burrard Skytrain station is right across the street from the gym at the corner of Burrard and Dunsmuir.

Bicycle Parking

There is a locked bike cage in the underground parkade next to the entrance door.  Please email the office for the code to the cage.


Bentall has its own restaurant called "The Hide Lounge" where students can purchase a high quality meal or smoothie.  There are also several restaurants in the building and surrounding neighbourhood.

The washrooms at Bentall are fully equipped with a locker room, showers, hair dryers and products.

Working Out

Students are able to workout at Bentall before or after their class but will need to pay a drop-in fee to the club.

Refund Policy

If withdrawal from a course is more than one week before it starts, a refund will be issued less 20% administration fee.  There are no refunds within one week of a course start date.

Transferring to Another Course 

Students can transfer to another course date without penalty if the office is notified more than one week before the course start date.  If notified within one week of a course start date, there will be a 20% administration fee owing.


Our programs enable certification through either BCRPA or CFES.  Both have pros and cons and will be discussed on the first night of the Fitness Theory Course, as this does not need to be decided ahead of starting the program.  For more information regarding the differences please email the office and we’ll be happy to discuss. 

Steps for Certification

Please refer to the Steps for Certification page for an outline of which courses to take and in what order.

Each course consists of several dates listed below the heading Course 1, Course 2 etc.  Students are required to take only one of these courses but attend all of the dates of that course.  Depending on the course, it may be possible to miss a day and make it up in a future course.

Certification Renewal

For both BCRPA and CFES, students will be emailed a renewal reminder one month prior to expiry.  Please make sure your current email is on file and refer to the BCRPA or CFES websites for their individual renewal requirements.

Renewal Credits

In addition to Workshops, students can obtain renewal credits by taking an Instructor Course, such as Weight Training, Group Fitness or Personal Training.  Each course is worth 16 credits.

First Aid

Every instructor and trainer is required to hold a valid Emergency First Aid and Level A CPR certificate.  First Aid is valid for three years and CPR is valid for one year.  When this is required depends on which certification (BCRPA or CFES) is being pursued.  We schedule the First Aid course every 6-8 weeks so please go to the Workshops page to see the current date. 


Workshops are not needed to achieve certification but are required to maintain it.  Both BCRPA and CFES students will need to log 8 credits/hours of workshops per year.  We offer a variety of workshops for both Group Fitness Instructors and Personal Trainers year round.  Please refer to the Workshops page for what is currently scheduled.

Job Placement

Several Lower Mainland clubs often recruit from Inshape Training.  Job opportunities are posted often on our Social Media pages and are sent as emails to students on the Inshape Training email list.

Working Abroad

Inshape Training certifications are recognized within and outside of Canada.


All instuctors and trainers need to be insured once working.  Some facilities provide coverage and sometimes it must be purchased.  We recommend either Holman Insurance Brokers or HUB International Insurance Brokers.
