Level 1: Successful Ageing for the Mid-Age/Older Adult
Personal trainers help their clients improve their quality of life in many ways. A particular focus is ensuring clients age successfully and can continue to pursue their physical and mental health goals, hobbies or interests. Canadians have a life expectancy of 82 years of age and one in five Canadians are at least 65 years of age. Hence, you have probably heard the phrase: "you're not getting any younger!" Join Brian on a comprehensive, highly practical journey on developing programs for clients 45+ setting them up to age successfully and increase the number of years of life lived in good health.
This is an online/in-person hybrid course and the breakdown is listed in the description below. Certificate of Completion will be emailed upon completion of the course.
In this Level 1 course you will learn:
- Joint-by-Joint Theory and Neuromuscular Stress Reflexes
- physiological changes associated with ageing
- importance of VT1 (breathing) testing for the Older Adult population and how to program from it
- a full fitness assessment protocol to help create programs for Older Adult clients
- balance progression training that will improve stability
- how the Force-Velocity Curve provides progression of fitness activities to get your clients stronger and moving faster
- progression of somatic exercises that will get frail or severely deconditioned clients (or anyone!) moving; you will learn and teach these 4 powerful somatic movements

Class #3: 2-hour lecture webinar via Zoom - assessment interpretation
Class #4: 4-hour in-person class at Eastside Fitness in Vancouver - fitness activities to support successful ageing and somatic class experience
Class #5: 4-hour in-person class at Eastside Fitness in Vancouver - learning how to teach the somatic movements

Prerequisite: CFES/BCRPA (or equivalent) Personal Trainer certification
Cost: $399.00 (includes tax, manual with all slides, forms, testing protocols, and 2 class recordings of somatic movements so you can practice at home)
